Back Again!

Well, I felt guilty after I heard that a fellow student visited my Blog - I have not really had time for updating, and with an exam on the horizon... ahh... here goes anyways.

Med School (in five minutes or less - the Reubenator is such a taskmaster!):

Welcome to medschool: The Tuataras treated us to an awesome welcome - first they scared the pants off of us, and then we bobbed for pickles - and then finally they gave us a warm welcome to the profession. All in all a fabulous time. Turns out it was not just for the sake of doing what they must - the Tuataras have been awesome - helping us out here and there, and even handing us a beating in table tennis when we need it.

First time with patients: Bone marrow biopsies, scrubbing up in the ER, fistulas causing abnormal passage of bodily nutrients, patients finding out about terminal illness, and finally patient presentations from incredible people who are somehow managing with terrible illness.

Calgary Medschool: All I can say is I am glad I held out and only applied at University of Calgary Medical School. What is different here? What makes it better than the rest? Caring, caring, and more caring! This school is really about making successful Doctors, and not simply by testing, but training and supporting us through it all. I have seen several examples in the past where institutions did not care about individual success - just the bottom line. This is just the opposite here at U of C.

I really have to get back to studying - I will finish with saying thank you to all of those people who have been so supportive from the Admissions office to the UME office to the Bookstore, and finally Med IT. Finally, thanks to my classmates who are all wonderful people who are going to make a great batch of Doctors someday soon!
